Over/Under and Both Teams to Score Explained
Instead of predicting the match result, you can bet on the number of goals. The two most popular goal markets are Over/Under and Both Teams to Score (BTTS).
Over/Under
You bet on whether total goals finish above or below a set line. Half-goal lines (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5) mean there's no push.
- Over 2.5: Wins if 3 or more goals are scored.
- Under 2.5: Wins if 2 or fewer goals are scored.
- Over 1.5: Needs at least 2 goals; odds are usually low.
- Over 3.5: Needs at least 4 goals; odds are usually high.
On whole-number lines (e.g. 3.0), the stake is refunded if total goals equal the line. First-half and team-specific over/under markets are also available.
Both Teams to Score (Yes / No)
- BTTS Yes: Wins if both teams score at least once (1-1, 2-1, 3-2…).
- BTTS No: Wins if at least one team fails to score (0-0, 1-0, 3-0…).
The actual score doesn't matter; 1-1 and 4-3 both settle as "BTTS Yes".
Combined Markets
In combined markets like "Match result + Over 2.5" or "BTTS Yes + Over 2.5", both conditions must be met. The odds go up, but the chance of winning goes down.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Unless stated otherwise, goal markets settle on regular time; extra time and penalties don't count.
- Teams' recent scoring averages give an idea, but never a guarantee.
